by hajara leman2 nine people lost their lives while over 200 houses were destroyed and numerous farm lands washed out by flood in gombe between may and august an official has said1 mrs lamis benjamin deputy director rescue and rehabilitation gombe state emergency management agency sema disclosed this to newsmen in gombe on thursday1 benjamin said four out of the nine deaths were recorded in may following a downpour in gombe town1 she said the remaining five deaths were recorded in cham community of balanga local government area of the state in august also after a downpour1 the deputy director also said over 200 houses and numerous farm lands were washed away in nyuwar jesu cham in balanga and komta ayaba in biliri local government areas1 according to her the state government through sema acted promptly by providing 1200 bags of maize as relief material to victims in the two councils1 for now 1200 bags of 100kg of maize were distributed as relief material to the affected persons1 we are now waiting for the national emergency management agency to come with their relief materials she said1 she appealed to wealthy individuals and corporate bodies in the state to assist the needy to ameliorate the plight of the victims1 -
Man impregnates 15-year-old daughter

by hajara leman2 the police in gombe on tuesday charged 50-year-old samaila zakari at a magistrates court with raping and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter1 in the first information report the police said zakari of deba town in yamaltudeba local government area of gombe state committed the acts on may 2 and may 81 the prosecution said that about 10p.m. on the mentioned dates the accused took his biological daughter to his matrimonial room and had canal knowledge of her without her consent1 the prosecution further stated that the girl was currently carrying a two months old pregnancy for her father1 the prosecution said the accused committed incest and rape by his action contrary to section 390 and 282 of the penal code1 however the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges before the magistrate mr dorabo sikam1 the prosecutor insp. baba shekari asked for the adjournment of the case to enable the police to complete their investigation1 the magistrate adjourned the case until may 21 and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody1
