Program Features

Professional Experience

Young Professionals are expected to make significant contributions toward their units work program while they gain a broad overview of the WBGs policies and work. As part of their two-year program and in line with their units business needs and Young Professionals interests, they will undertake a business driven rotational stretch/exposure assignment where they will gain valuable on-the-job experience.

Field Work

Young Professionals in the Operations stream are likely to join colleagues on field business trips, also called missions, in developing countries. These missions allow Young Professionals to experience firsthand the challenges of global development, understand key aspects of our work, and meet WBGs clients.

Training

A comprehensive development curriculum has been designed to ensure that YPs develop a WBG mindset, gain the foundational learning needed to understand and contribute to the WBG, and build the competencies required for an entry-level position: collaboration, leadership, integrative thinking, and innovation skills, while strengthening a culture of continuous learning.

The curriculum includes a blend of learning activities in a WBG cohort, small groups or individually. These activities range from onboarding activities, e-learning, cohort discussions with WBG leaders and leadership training, to career development conversations and networking opportunities.

Coaching and Mentoring

YP Buddy:Before they join, Young Professionals are assigned a YP buddy from the previous years group, based on their professional interests and cultural background. YP buddies help new recruits to better settle in the new organization and location, as well as to understand the expectations and challenges of the program.



Technical Buddy:In their hiring units, an experienced colleague is assigned as a go-to person to answer technical questions in their fields.



WBG Mentor:Once they have settled into their jobs, Young Professionals can be paired with a technical senior colleague who can mentor them on topics such as career options, stretch/exposure assignment opportunities, and help them gain insight into the organizational culture.



Youth Program Team:The Youth Program Team is dedicated to recruiting and helping integrate Young Professionals into the WBG. The team coordinates activities designed to support YPs, including mentoring and guidance, helps develop career strategies, and others. The Youth Program Team is a one-stop shop for Young Professionals looking for support and guidance.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary:As an entry-level professional in the WBG, Young Professionals are offered an internationally competitive salary, based on their education and professional experience.

Health, Life, Accident, and Other Insurance Programs:Young Professionals and their families (including declared domestic partners) may choose from three comprehensive medical/dental benefit plans. The WBG also provides basic life and accident insurance to all staff at no cost, and staff can elect optional life and accident insurance plans. The WBG provides disability and workers compensation coverage to staff at no cost.



Pension Plan:The WBG sponsors a comprehensive pension plan for eligible staff. Upon separation from the WBG, either a lump sum or a pension will become payable to the staff based on eligibility.



Relocation and Transportation Benefits

These benefits are only applicable to staff who are not residents of the greater Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area at the time of appointment. The World Bank will bear the cost of one-way transportation of staff and immediate dependent family from the staff members residence.

A one-time grant is included in the first paycheck to cover the cost of relocation.

Please note:

1. Staff Members who are not citizens (or in the U.S. lawful permanent residents) and have resided in the Host Duty Station area for 12 months or more immediately preceding acceptance of (a) appointment; (b) reappointment following a break in serviceare ineligible for Relocation and Transportation Benefits.

2. Staff Members who are citizens (or in the U.S., lawful permanent residents) of the Host Duty Station country and have resided in the Host Duty Station country for 12 months or more immediately preceding acceptance of (a) appointment; (b) reappointment following a break in service;are ineligible for Relocation and Transportation Benefits.

Mobility Premium:A financial benefit is provided for a fixed period to cover expenses associated with being an expatriate staff member, based on family size and nationality. This benefit is not available for U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents.

Tax Allowance:U.S. staff receive an additional quarterly payment to cover the federal, state, and local income tax liabilities on their World Bank Group income. Expatriates and U.S. permanent residents do not incur U.S. income tax liability and are thus not eligible for this benefit.

Financial Assistance:The World Bank Group offers several financial assistance programs, including a two-year interest-free settling-in loan to those who relocate upon appointment.

Format of the Interview Day

The interview is a full-day event. Those invited to interviews will be asked to come to the WBG from 8 am-5:30 pm.

(2) Assessment Center: either a morning or an afternoon 4-hour group assessment center (AC). The group assessment center is done with five other candidates. It consists of a series of individual and group exercises related to an international development case study that is given to the candidates at the start of the AC

Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program Eligibility.

• Open to citizens of all countries;
• If you earned a degree at an institution outside the U.S., you must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelors degree from a college or university of recognized standing;
• You are eligible to apply to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program if you are applying to enroll in any full-time graduate degree program at Stanford (for example, but not limited to, DFA, Eng, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MS, or PhD) or if you plan on pursuing one of Stanfords many joint- and dual- graduate degree options (for example, but not limited to, MD PhD, JD MA, MBA MS);
• If youre still in college studying for your first/bachelors degree, youre eligible to apply as long as you complete your first/bachelors degree before you enroll as a graduate student at Stanford. If you have earned a graduate degree, you remain eligible to apply in 2019 as long as you earned your first/bachelors degree in 2014 or later.
• Beyond the eligibility requirements listed above, you are eligible for Knight-Hennessy Scholars as long as you meet the requirements of the Stanford graduate program(s) that you wish to pursue. In most cases, you are eligible to apply to a graduate degree program even if you did not study that precise field as an undergraduate; please contact each graduate degree program for specific information about its requirements.
• You must complete not only your Knight-Hennessy Scholars application, but also the entire application process for your graduate degree program including any standardized test that your graduate degree program requires (GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.) and, if needed, an English proficiency test (TOEFL; or, for MBA program only, IELTS).
• Although we expect Knight-Hennessy Scholars to have performed well,there is no minimum requirement for your grades or scores.

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) is delighted to announce the eight annual SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme for applicants from Rivers, Delta, Imo and Bayelsa States.The objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity for qualifying students from these Niger Delta States to further their education in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas industry.

In the eight years of this programme, 79 students have won the opportunity to study at top-rated universities in the UK on full scholarship

For the academic year commencing September 2019, SPDC in partnership with three universities in the UKImperial College London; University of Leeds; and University of Aberdeen will award scholarships for one-year post-graduate M.Sc. studies.

The scholarship will cover tuition, one economy return-flight ticket from Nigeria to the UK and a contribution towards living expenses only*.

Shell Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Courses.

The following courses qualify for award of scholarships at the three institutions:

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must

• display sound intellectual ability and leadership potential.
• meet the individual universitys English Language requirements (usually at least 6.5 in IELTS score valid for Sept. 2018 admission). Please note that TOEFL is no longer recognised by most UK universities. Candidates are advised that failure to meet each universitys English Language requirement at the time of selection may invalidate their application.
• be aged between 21-28 years by 30/09/2019.
• be an indigene of Rivers, Delta, Imo or Bayelsa states (documentary proof of this will be required and will be verified).
• currently reside in Nigeria.
• plan to return to Nigeria on completion of the proposed programme of study.
• have obtained a university degree (at least of equivalent standard to a UK Second Class Upper Honours degree).
• not have studied previously in the UK or any other developed country
• have a Nigerian international passport valid till December 2020
• be neither a current nor former employee (who has left employment less than 5 years before) of SPDC or the Royal Dutch Shell Group or any Shell company or the local Nigerian consultant
• not be a spouse, child or ward of staff of Shell Companies in Nigeria or the local Nigerian consultant

Method of Application

• Submit application for admission to any of the participating universities for any of the qualifying courses.

The Russian lady who ran onto the field almost naked during Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final in Madrid between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur has confessed that she caused the commotion to promote her boyfriend’s adult website.

It would be recalled that all eyes were briefly turned away from the Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur players and on to a scantily-clad Russian swimsuit model Kinsey Wolanski, before security guards caught up with and removed her halfway across the pitch.

Her tiny black swimsuit bore the phrase “Vitaly Uncensored,” the name of her boyfriend Vital Zdorovetskiy’s adult website, which has 32 million registered users, according to published reports.

The stunt grew Wolanski’s Instagram following from about 250,000 users to more than 1 million, according to The Sun.

She said: “You guys I can’t even fathom what is going on right now, I feel amazing and so thankful, I really could cry.

“I really did this just because I really want to push myself out my comfort zone; I love that feeling – that adrenaline feeling and doing crazy things.

“I love to do crazy things all the time, but I never thought it would get to this scale and all of your support and messages and everything is so amazing,” Wolanski posted in a thank-you message on her account.

But by Sunday, Instagram had suspended Wolanski’s account.

Zdorovetsky himself stole the show at the 2014 World Cup final between German and Argentina when he ran onto the field, exposing his bare chest, which had the scrawled message “Natural born prankster.”

Zdorovetsky, who is 27 and also of Russian descent, expressed approval of his girlfriend’s stunt at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium, saying on his Instagram “I can’t wait to marry you.”

Wolanski, who is 22, has appeared in Sports Illustrated and Maxim, among other publications.

Zdorovetsky’s social media accounts have attracted millions of followers.

The match which attracted Wolanski’s action saw Liverpool defeating Tottenham 2-0, to win their sixth Champions League title, third-most of any European club team and trailing only Real Madrid and AC Milan.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has arrested a 48year-old pastor in Abuja for alleged rape and sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old orphan.

NAPTIPs Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, Stella Nezan, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

Nezan alleged that the suspect, a pastor in the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Church (MFM), Gwarimpa branch, impregnated his victim in the process.

She said that the suspect, who volunteered to provide shelter for the girl and deliver her from evil spirit after she had been accused of witchcraft, took advantage of the situation.

NAPTIP operatives effected arrest of one pastor with MFM in Gwarimpa, Abuja, for rape, sexual molestation and impregnating a 16-year-old orphan.

The suspect from Nsukka in Enugu State, was said to have volunteered to provide shelter and also conduct deliverance on the girl after she lost her parents and was accused of witchcraft.

But he took advantage of the vulnerability of the innocent girl and repeatedly devoured her sexually, she said.

Nezan said that the victim, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) student in Abuja had lived with the pastor, a widower, and his daughter for sometimes before the sexual exploitation started.

The suspect was said to have confessed to committing the crimes only twice and blamed it on the devil.

The victim, a JSS2 student of one of the government schools in Abuja, suddenly dropped out of school and was in dire need of accommodation shortly after the death of her parents in 2018.

Investigation revealed that the pastor was living with his daughter in the same compound with the victims deceased parents in Karmo, a suburb of Abuja, and volunteered to assist her in her education.

According to the victim, after the first year of their living together, the pastor started making love advances toward her, an action she constantly resisted.

She narrated that the first time the pastor raped her was in March, after her birthday outing, Nezan said.

She added that the pastor continued to rape her afterwards and it resulted in pregnancy.

During interrogation, the pastor confessed to sexually abusing the girl only twice and attributing the evil act to the devil, she added.

Meanwhile, the Director General of NAPTIP, Ms Julie Okah-Donli, has described the action of the suspect as the highest form of wickedness against a fellow human being.

Okah-Donli promised that the case would be diligently prosecuted in order to secure justice for the victim.
