Stakeholder Management

  • An Individual, group or organisation who may affect, be affected by, or perceive itself to be affected by a decision, activity or outcome of the project.

  • When stakeholders are not properly identified, the chance of meeting expectation is little.

  • The more stakeholders, the more complex communication gets.

Stakeholders are commonly placed into 3 distinct groups.

  • The 1st group of stakeholders are those within the project, i.e the Project team.

  • The 2nd group of stakeholders are those outside the project, but within the organisation. The group includes the sponsor, functional managers, program managers, portfolio managers and organisational groups.

  • The 3rd group of stakeholders are those outside of the organisation. This group includes business partners, sellers or suppliers, customers or users, government regulators and possibly other entities as well.
