    The EU Blue Card allows third-country nationals with a university degree to take up employment in Germany commensurate with their qualifications.The EU Blue Card, like all longer-term residence permits, is issued exclusively by the relevant foreigners authority in Germany. You must apply for the national visa, which is required in advance, from the embassy.General information on the EU Blue Card is available from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees website at www.bamf.de and from the portal for qualified professionals www.make-it-in-germany.com.

    This is to inform you that all checklists as well as application forms are free of costs. The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany hereby wishes to inform you that the competent alien's authority in Germany has to be notified about any long term visa application. The authority also has to give its consent according to the travel purpose. The visa fee amount is 75,00Euro (only payable in 500 and 1.000 Naira bills). Please be informed that a visa application will be rejected in cases of bribery.

    Every applicant is asked to provide the following mandatory documents (original + 2 copies of each document, unless otherwise specified) after having booked an appointment via our website www.nigeria.diplo.de:

    • Passport

    • 2 completely filled application forms

    • 2 completely filled declarations in accordance with Section54of the Residence Act

    • 2 biometric passport pictures

    • Curriculum vitae of professional career, including all certificates, diplomas, etc.

    • German university degree or recognised foreign degree comparable to a German degree. You can check whether your foreign university degree is recognised or comparable by consulting the ANABIN database: http://anabin.kmk.org/

    • Working contract or binding job offer with details of gross annual salary

    • Pre-paid courier envelope from a major courier service

    Supplementary information or evidence may be requested in each individual case.Please be informed that incomplete applications (e.g. missing set of copies) are likely to be rejected!

    Please be informed that the maximumsize of a bag/backpack/luggage admittible to the Consulate is 30 cm x 40 cm x 15 cm.

    Please refrain from bringing bags larger than these measurements with you to your appointments at the Consulate General.

    Bags bigger than 30 cm x 40 cm x 15 cm cannot be stored at the Consulate which is why applicants who bring such bags with them cannot be allowed into the Consulate.

    Please note that the application will only be accepted when it is complete, i.e. when all the required documents are attached. Should there be documents missing the application will be rejected and the applicant has to apply fresh for a new appointment. Complete documentation does not guarantee the
    issuing of visas.

    Using falsified documents will automatically result in the refusal of the
    application. The visa fee amount of 60,00 Euro (only payable in 500 and 1.000 Naira bills) will NOT be reimbursed if the visa is refused, regardless of the reasons for the refusal. Application forms are free of charge.

    Visa applications of minors are possible only if accompanied by a person entitled to custody. If this is not possible, the minor has to be accompanied by an authorized representative. The authorized representative has to bring along the original power of attorney as well as an identification card.

    Every applicant is asked to provide the following mandatory documents (original + 1 copy of each document, unless otherwise specified) after having booked an appointment via our website www.nigeria.diplo.de:

    • Valid passport + color copy of its data page – only E-Passports can be accepted, no observations or renewals allowed

    • for non-Nigerian nationals residing in Nigeria: copy of Nigerian residence permit

    • travel health insurance

    • typed and signed sheet with the following information: name, d.o.b., place o.b., passport number, telephone number, email, postal address, contact in Germany (name and address)

    • proof of registration as a professional music group by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Culture or PMAN (Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria)

    This is to inform you that all checklists as well as application forms are free of costs. The Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany hereby wishes to inform you that the competent alien's authority in Germany has to be notified about any longterm visa application.

    The authority also has to give its consent according to the travel purpose. The visa fee amount is 75,00 Euro (only payable in 500 and 1.000 Naira bills). Please be informed that a visa application will be rejected in cases of bribery.

    • German university degree or recognised foreign degree comparable to a German degree

    • a printed (not handwritten) and personally signed letter of motivation providing information on the planned course of action to secure a job (sector, region, intended place of residence/accommodation WITH FULL ADDRESS etc.), max. one page (A4)

    • Any additional evidence of your preparations to secure a job that can already be provided.

    • Prepaid courier envelope by any major courier service

    Proof of financial means for the duration of your stay, max. six months by one of the following options:

    • fully funded blocked German bank account bearing a minimum amount of 853,- per month / 10.236,- € for one year. Further information you find on our webpage under the following Link: Blocked Account

    • original official German declaration of sponsorship („Verpflichtungserklärung“) for the purpose of studies/ language course given before the competent German authority (Please note: Financing is usually only secured if declarant resides in Germany)

    • proof of a scholarship financed from German public funds or European
      supported funds covering the arising costs

    From November 1st, 2019 the General Consulate will only accept applications with fully funded blocked accounts OR original formal obligations OR a scholarship financed from German public funds or European supported funds.
