The police in Lagos have arrested a 34-year-old man Innocent Ifunayachi for allegedly drugging and raping a teenage daughter of his host.

The suspect was said to be a family friend and had visited the family at their Bariga Lagos residence on September 11.

He was said to have met the 14-year-old victim eating noodles and laced the staple with dried Marijuana when the teenager left her meal to get him a drink.

The teenager was said to have returned to her meal and eaten it not knowing that it has been drugged.

She was said to have lost consciousness afterwards and he allegedly took advantage of her.

Similarly, the Police arrested 24-year-old Dayo Maker for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl and threatening to do same to her younger sister.

Maker, a resident of 26, Oreshegun Street, Elaje Bariga, was said to have conspired with one Kazeem Bello, 26, to rape the victim last November. The victim was said to have gotten pregnant after the incident and was delivered of the baby five weeks ago.

Although the girl never told anyone how she got pregnant following threats from Maker, it was gathered that she opened up to her family when the suspect threatened to rape her younger sister.

According to police spokesman Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), the suspects were arrested by detectives attached to the Family Support Unit (FSU) Bariga.

He said the 14-year-old victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and forensic examination.

Elkana said efforts were on to arrest Bello, who is currently at large, adding that the suspects in custody would be charged to court.

A fraudster, Tajudeen Akintunde and his gang members, Omojola Adeyanju and Tunde Ganiyu, have been arrested after hypnotizing a boy, Safari Taiwo, who had been sent to deposit money in a bank by his elder sister at Yemetu, Ibadan. Tunde, who pretended to be a pastor, approached Taiwo and prophesized that he had a problem.

After hypnotising the boy, the suspects collected the N15,000 and ATM card with him and withdrew about N93,000, another N50,000 through the POS and another 43,000. They told the boy he had spiritual problems and he must drop everything on him in order for them to carry out the cleansing.

A member of the syndicate was then beckoned upon to assist the victim to purchase salt at Iwo road to complete his ritual rites. Taiwo, however, became conscious while on the way and he alerted the people, thereby leading to their arrest.

A suspected ritual killer, Tunde Tayo has been arrested by the Police in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State after burying a headless body in his uncompleted building. He was caught after
cutting off the head and removing the heart and intestines of the Okada at the Crystal FM area in Maitunbi.

The 30-year-old Tayo was reportedly apprehended by police operatives attached to the Maitumbi Division for killing his victim of Ungwan Rama for ritual purposes.

Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed to be clearing grasses grown in the building before he was apprehended. Further investigation revealed that Salle’s body was buried by the suspect in a shallow grave near his house. The suspect said he lured his victim to his uncompleted building in Ungwan Roka, where he carried out the crime.

40-year-old Kenneth Ganiu Ninalowo believed to be a brother to Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo has been arrested by the FBI on charges of laundering over $1.5 million in Chicago.

The money, according to the FBI is derived from scams targeting an unnamed Chicago-area community college and an energy company, who were defrauded into sending approximately $5 million to fraudulent bank accounts controlled by Ninalowo and his partner, 27-year-old Brittney Stokes.

The two were charged as part of a larger investigation, which included the arrests of over 280 individuals, including 167 in Nigeria, 18 in Turkey and 15 in Ghana.

The Department of Justice says arrests were also made in France, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom.

Kenneth Ninalowo is however said to be a brother to popular Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo. He is the second child of eight children and a native of Ikorodu Lagos state Nigeria.

Though we cannot independently verify their relationship, Bolanle Ninalowo’s bio online however says he also spent alot of his growing up years in Chicago same as Kenneth;

Most wanted kidnap kingpin, Bello Audu, also known as Commander Yellow, whose gang had been terrorising Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway,has been arrested.

40-year-old Yellow has been on the police watch list for armed robbery, murder, rape and kidnapping for a long period of time until he was picked up by IRT operatives, led by DCP Abba Kyari.

Yellow has confessed that he successfully carried out over 50 Kidnappings and that his gang has killed many innocent Nigerians during operations. The gang has no mercy as it killed anyone who failed to pay ransom at the exact time it requested for it.

“The members would abuse their female victims. The worst of it all was that they would kill a victim and still collect ransom. We thank God that he and many Of his Key gang members have been apprehended by IRT,” a police source said.

A resident of Obidike in Umudim Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State has accused her landlord and his son of beating her to coma after she told them to stop using their vehicles to block her salon shop.

The lady identified as Miss Ogochukwu Igwe was rushed to Glory hospital and Maternity where she alleged that the landlord strangled her after hitting her with the drier in her salon.

She said, “I pleaded with him to shift the car from blocking my shop but instead of yielding, the landlord told me to pack out of the shop and that he would deal with me when his son returned in the evening.

“The son later arrived with his tipper, came with his father into my salon and used the drier in my salon to hit me.

“He held me by the neck and tried to strangled me and I fell down unconscious. The next place I saw myself was at Glory hospital and Maternity, Umudim Nnewi.”

The hairdresser who pleaded with the police to ensure that her assaulters face the full wrath of the law, said she recovered after she saw a female police officer who introduced herself as Inspector Nneka, the investigating police officer (IPO) from Central Police Station in Nnewi.

“She took my statement and told me that Onyeka who beat and tried to strangled me has been arrested but that they were yet to arrest his father.

“I later learnt that he was granted bail while his father has not been arrested,” she added.

Her counsel, Mr Kanayo C. Muoneke urged the state’s commissioner of police Mr John Abang to intervene as the suspects are celebrating the victim’s ordeal.

“Presently, the victim can’t conviniently eat because of the injuries sustained and the suspects are celebrating the victim’s fate,” he said.

A French man Jean-Louis Biron has lost his lawsuit against a Cockerel named Maurice over complaint about the bird’s early morning crowing.

Biron, who lives in the city of Rochefort, brought the case against the four-year-old bird after buying a holiday home next to his owners in nearby Ile d’Oleron, a small island off France’s west coast.

However, a French tribunal rejected the complaint about the bird’s early morning crowing and ordered that Maurice’s owner, Corinne Fesseau be paid €1,000 (₦399,275) in damages.

The two-year dispute – symbolic of a culture clash, has pitted the old rural way of life against modern values.

“Today Maurice has won a battle for the whole of France,” owner Corrine Fesseau said.

Mr Biron started complaining about Maurice’s early morning crowing to his owners, Jacky and Corrine Fesseau, but they refused to get rid of their beloved cockerel.

“The cock’s screeching starts at 4:30 a.m., and keeps up all morning and well into the afternoon,” Mr Biron wrote in an official letter to his neighbours in 2017.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested at an Indian airport for pretending to be 81 in order to get into the USA.

Jayesh Patel was stopped as he was trying to board a flight to New York at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi by the Central Industrial Security Force. Disguised in glasses, make-up, a turban and a dyed beard, he made it through initial security checks and past immigration officials, a spokesperson for the Central Industrial Security Force told news agency IANS.

“He was planning to go to the U.S. for a job. But his profile was such that he would not have gotten a visa easily,” a senior police officer told local media. “With a fake name - Amrik Singh, a fake address, he managed to get a passport and a U.S. visa. We've never seen a similar case at the Delhi airport before," he added.

Riding through the airport in a wheelchair, Patel aroused suspicion at a second security check when he refused to get up saying he was too old. He reportedly refused to make eye contact during the exchange.

"[The Security Force] was suspicious about him as his voice didn't match his age. Despite grey hair, his skin seemed to be quite young as there were hardly any wrinkles on his face," a spokesperson told local news outlets.

Patel reportedly hired an agent who got him the documents and arranged for him to be made-up to look like an 81-year-old in a hotel in Delhi, according to local media. Patel agreed to pay the agent once he had arrived in the U.S.

The security force tweeted that they had arrested the man for impersonation and carrying dual passports, before handing him over to the Delhi police.

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has dismissed the argument by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to disqualify President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2019 General Election.

The court ruled that Buhari possess the West African School Certificate Examination, (WASCE), to contest the 2019 presidential election.

It said Buhari was not only qualified, but eminently qualified to contest the election, saying that the petitioners (Atiku Abubakar and PDP), could not run away from the fact that Buhari obtained WASCE which qualified him for the election.

The court said apart from being qualified, the president also obtained other certificates to validate claims that he is eminently qualified for the presidential poll.

The Chairman of the tribunal, Garba Mohammed, therefore struck out the claims by the PDP and Atiku that Buhari did not possess the needed qualification for the election and that he presented false information to INEC.

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) on Wednesday declared that there was no evidence that INEC transmitted the results of the 2019 presidential election electronically to any server.

Delivering judgement on the matter, the chairman of the tribunal Justice Mohammed Garba said that the petitioners – PDP and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar failed to prove the existence of an INEC server or that the electoral commission transmitted results electronically.

The court held that there was no law in place in Nigeria that allows electronic transmission of results or the transmission of result using card reader going by the electoral act.

“I have carefully examined and examined Exhibit 28 (INEC Manual for Election) tendered by the petitioners, I did not see where there is provision for electronic transmission of result of election,” Justice Garba said.

The First batch of 84 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday at 2 p.m. local time via the Murtala Mohammed International Lagos in company of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which disclosed this in an update made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, explained that although 313 Nigerians were confirmed as those to form the first batch of evacuees, only 84 of them would arrive on Wednesday because they were the ones cleared to embark on the flight to Nigeria.

According to the ministry, 640 Nigerians have indicated the desire to return from South Africa and have registered to do so.

The ministry added that the second batch of evacuees would depart Johannesburg for Nigeria on Friday.

“The Air peace air craft which was scheduled to take off at 9 a.m. local time was delayed due to the fact that checking in and clearance procedures by immigration are very very slow.

“There are complains of system failure and out of the 313 confirmed for first batch of evacuation today, only 84 are cleared so far.

“The more the Aircraft waits for the passengers, the higher the amount the Aircraft will pay for Parking,” the ministry stated.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that following the xenophobia attack on Nigerians in South Africa, Mr Allen Onyeama, Proprietor of the Airline volunteered to send an aircraft to evacuate Nigerians willing to return free of charge.

The process which was earlier scheduled to commence on Sept. 6 had stalled as it was reported that most Nigerians willing to return did not have valid passports or travel documents to complete immigration formalities.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has appointed Fatima, daughter of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, as his Special Assistant on Non-Governmental and Civil Society Organisations.

Fatima’s husband, Idris, who is a son of the immediate past Governor of Oyo State Senator Abiola Ajimobi, made the announcement on his Instagram page.

He wrote, “Fatima Abiola-Ajimobi, I don’t know if you still believe me because I say it so often; you’re an extraordinary young woman. I have watched you struggle when you were at your lowest and noticed how you never lost faith and ‘you walk confidently in the direction of your dreams…’ The mantra you live by.
