Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, says he remains the Oluwo of Iwoland despite his suspension by the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers.

According to the embattled monarch, the suspension is subject to the approval of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

He also debunked reports that he was suspended because of his alleged assault on the Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Dhikrulahi Akinropo, during a peace meeting last week in Osogbo, capital of Osun State.

The monarch said the suspension was recommended because of his ‘swagger’

This was revealed in a post on his Instagram page on Friday.

In the post, Oluwo attached a video, showing him partying and dancing to a song that states that he doesn’t pay attention to “abuses”.

The statement on his Instagram page reads: “Oba (Dr) Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu is the one and only Oluwo of Iwoland.

“He was never suspended as Oluwo of Iwoland.

“Osun State Traditional Council has only recommended his suspension from the council meetings and activities for six months on the guise that his conduct (been too flashy, stylish, human rights defender and swagging) and that is even subject to Governor’s approval. This clarification is important for the public notice!”

Kasarawa disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Sunday and decried the rampant cases of sexual assaults in the state.

He said the 2019 figure was up from 296 cases in 2018, regretting that in January 2020 alone, about 31 cases of sexual abuses were recorded.

He said the cases comprised illegal camping of young girls, sexual exploitation and sodomy.

“This issue of rape mostly involved young girls and teenagers between the age of five and 16,” he said.

The commandant explained that the offenders cut across all calibre of people in the society, including politicians, traditional rulers, clerics, businessmen and women.

He attributed the menace to the negative attitude of some parents, adding that the issue of poverty and greed had made sexual exploitation more rampant in the state.

Kasarawa also identified interference with legal processes as one of the major challenges in prosecuting rape cases, stressing the need to tackle favouritism and compromise.

“The politicians are interfering with the legal process to prosecute and pass judgment against them.

“The politicians are interfering with the legal process to prosecute and pass judgment against them.

“I think anything that has to do with rape, politicians should step aside as issues of interests should not be there,” he said.

Kasawara urged the state government to empower the commission to tackle the menace and other social vices in the state by providing necessary facilities, operation vehicles, modern security gadgets, training of staff and funding.

“Presently, we are just like volunteers, the Commission is owned by the government but no cash backing, that is our serious problem, but we are still trying our best to see that we maintain the services,” he noted.

“By the time Hisbah is empowered and on daily basis prosecute cases of rape in the state, I am very sure people would stop committing that offence.

”When offenders were being punished accordingly, it will serve as deterrent to people, and make them to go back to their senses,” he stressed.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has not prohibited the acceptance of foreign currency cash deposits by Deposit Money Banks (DMBs).

The CBN Director, Corporate Communications, Mr Issac Okorafor made the clarification while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday.

A domiciliary account is a type of current account that allows you to fund it with foreign currencies such as dollars, pounds or euros and enables you to do foreign transactions on that account.

The CBN clarification came from a tweet from their Twitter handle.

The account could be used to transfer money to another country or receive foreign currency from another country.

Okorafor explained that only electronic fund transfers into Domiciliary accounts could also be transferred from such accounts while cash deposits into such accounts could as well allow to be withdrawn in cash also.

He said the clarification was necessary due to misrepresentation of facts and uncertainties surrounding the operations of domiciliary accounts in the country.

Okorafor therefore urged stakeholders and other interested parties in banking sector to always endeavour to seek clarification on issues.

According to him, rumours and speculative tendencies are detrimental to the financial system.

    • Joseph Joshua has been tipped to continue the legacy of his father Anthony Joshua in boxing

    • Born in October 2015, JJ is one of the motivations behind Joshua's successful boxing career run

    • Joseph was recently seen with his father when he won his heavyweight fight in Saudi Arabia

Anthony Joshua reclaimed his heavyweight spotlight with a resounding victory over Mexican heavyweight star Andy Ruiz on December 7, 2019, in Saudi Arabia through a unanimous point decision.

The Nigerian-born British fighter had earlier lost his to the Mexican, but the second showdown saw Joshua outclass Ruiz through 12 rounds of boxing action to reclaim his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts.

Joshua then appeared to be cuddling to his arms a young boy during a post-fight interview inside the Diriyah Arena, leaving everyone on the web of confusion about his fatherhood status.

A post shared by Anthony Joshua (@anthonyjoshua) on

And in what does not come as a surprise, Joshua has now been confirmed as the father of the young boy who many may see as a worthy heir to the throne of Joshua's boxing legacy in the future.

Named Joseph Bayley Temiloluwa Prince Joshua, the young boy was born in October 2015 to Joshua and his estranged girlfriend Nicole Osbourne.

JJ, as he is commonly called, takes after his father in term of physical resemblance and love for the boxing sport, as he is always seen with his dad on big events.

According to Anthony Joshua, 5-year-old Joseph stays with his (Joshua's) mum Yeta Odusanya who the boxer has always described as a big inspiration to him.

On the possibility of JJ toeing the path of his father, Joshua ruled out seeing his son venturing into the fighting game because according to him, he lacks the “killer instinct” his has from a tough upbringing.

Recently, JJ featured alongside his father on the GQ Magazine, and it was there the heavyweight star confessed that his son will not go into boxing because he does not have a violent background.

"I had that instinct before I ever boxed, but now I know how to handle it, control it and when to use it.

“And that’s why I think maybe JJ won’t be able to box, because when you come from a less violent background, do you have that instinct?

"JJ has the bloodline but will he be the strongest in the pack?" Joshua submitted.

Joshua also revealed the commitment of raising his son and said his mum has played a big role in raising Joseph, saying: "it takes a family to raise a man."
