Much earlier in the days of her terrorist abduction, there was a spirited attempt by the Federal Government acting through third parties to pay a ransom in a bid to secure the release of Leah Sharibu, but her abductors who had made the financial demand backed out when payment was offered.
According to knowledgeable government sources last night, the money was ready to be delivered when the terrorists who had made the request for a specific amount totalling several tonnes of millions of Naira in hard currency, changed their minds and rejected any ransom.
While the channels of communication between top security agents of the government, third parties and the terrorists at times take more than a month to complete one line of messages back and forth, the FG reached an agreement after such a long communication procedure only to be turned back after an agreement.
In the circumstances the FG determined to secure the release requested for an explanation as to the sudden refusal to receive the ransom by the terrorists only to be told by some of the third line communication channels that the terrorists decided they would never accept a ransom on Leah because they hoped to use her abduction to rankle religious passion and possibly cause a religious war in the country if they could.
According to a government source, “while the FG remains strongly committed to securing the release of Leah and all other identified and unidentified abductees, by any means necessary, the terrorists chose much earlier after Leah’s abduction to use her to fan religious embers and cause devastating division in the country. And that was why the terrorists rejected the ransom government security agencies prepared to pay for Leah’s release.”
The source explained further that top presidential officials still encouraged FG officials to remain actively engaged with the channels of communication and the negotiators until a positive resolution is reached “because the President has set a firm target and resolve to ensure the freedom of Leah and others by any means necessary.”

Popular TV presenter and actress, Laura Monyeazo Abebe, popularly known as Moet Abebe may have spent the St. Valentine’s Day all alone. The AOP actually gave herself away in a series of posts she made three days before Val’s Day.In the post she was rather obsessed with herself, preaching the gospel of loving oneself and making love to oneself with direct reference to St. Valentine’s Day.
In the first post, which she made with luscious picture of herself in sensual red dress with a tease of her boobs peeping, she said, “ Valentine’s round the corner,” like she was giving out a secret. Then, she followed it up with a picture of herself alone at a dinner table, yet in a red dress, saying, “Dinner for one is served, who needs a Valentine? When you’ve got all this love to give to yourself.
Afterwards, she finished it with another post that may have nailed our suspicion that the British-born Nigerian was truly alone, loving herself on Valentine’s Day. “Make love ❤️to yourself as no one loves you the way you love yourself,” she said.

There are many sides to St. Valentine’s Day celebration. Like one actress recently aptly puts it, there are victims of St. Valentine’s Day, which according to her, are mostly married people and lovers.
She said the day is not actually seen by most to celebrate the one in their lives but a quickie with a love conquest or a crush that needs convincing. Thinking along same line is another Nollywood actress, Onyi Odimegwu Obodoechina, known as Delaposh on Instagram.
In her post some days before Valentine’s day, she reveals what she wants for the day and what others should really be mindful of.
“Some people have started receiving Val’s gifts. Please, don’t send me flowers, cards or forwarded message to avoid embarrassment. At least send me G-string if you don’t know what to send, it’s better than audio gift,” she said.
Then probably giving a hint she doesn’t give a damn from what source her gift may materialize from, she added, “No man belongs to one woman alone. You can’t be good enough for everyone but you will always be the best for the one who deserves you. Remove expectations from people and you will remove their power from hurting your feelings.

Budding Yoruba actress, Bukola Shittu has opened a can of worms regarding Nigerian girls and flowers as gifts. We have seen many, at least, on TV purr with delight when their lovers present them with flowers as a gift.In a chat with Potpourri, the video vixen turned actress, while responding to a question on her thoughts on St. Valentine’s Day opened up another vista which many may consider as controversial.
“Valentines day is a celebration of love and affection, but these days, we celebrate people that don’t love us. What I mean is that, as a young single lady, we always want to impress our loved ones then forget that we deserve to be loved in return. I respect ladies that buy gifts for their boyfriends on Val’s Day,” she quipped just as harmlessly as she could, before she dropped the poser.
“We are celebrating love so we shouldn’t expect much from each other. As a man, if you are buying any gift for Valentine please don’t just buy only flowers for any Nigerian woman, and if you decide to buy rose, please buy the real ones, I mean original rose . I, in particular hate plastic roses. I don’t even want real ones, I don’t think any Nigerian lady does,” she added sternly.
Bukola is on the final production stage of her latest movie tiled “Wild Kleptos” featuring Jide Kosoko, Jumoke George, Frank Essein among others. The movie is directed by Rotimi Raji.
Bukola Shittu, started her journey into the world of entertainment as video model before finding her feet as an actress. She’s a self-effacing lady who does her picking of choices life has to offer and wouldn’t allow anyone the driving seat in her life. When her boyfriend started acting weird because her career as a model and actress was beginning to make him uncomfortable, Bukola had no qualms in giving him the boot.

The fight between Nollywood actress, Tonto Dike and her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, has become messy despite the fact that the relationship had produced a child.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the war, which was fought in the media, has now moved to the Court following the recent action by Churchill.
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Judicial Division, has invited popular Nollywood celebrity, Tonto Dikeh, to appear in Court over a suit filed by her former husband, Dr. Olakunle Oladunni Churchill and his organization, Big Church Foundation, a subsidiary of Big Church Groups.
The case against Tonto in the High Court with Suit No CU/5801/19, issued 14 days notification with strict implications on her failure to appear before the Court, as the Court may proceed therein with judgement even in the absence of the Defendant (Tonto Dikeh).
According to the case filed by the 1st and 2nd Claimant (Dr. Churchill and Big Church Foundation respectively), former husband of the defendant, it maintained claims that the series of malicious and fallacious allegations, assertions and accusations through media campaigns and publications by Tonto Dikeh and her charity organization were defamatory, baseless and sponsored to tarnish and damage the image and political ambition of the claimant, as he might have told her his intentions to run for Federal House of Representatives in his constituency.
The suit identified several declarations with substantial proofs ascertaining illegalities in the action and approaches adopted by the claimant’s ex-wife. The claims includes the declaration that the defendant’s interview on series of false allegations on domestic violence, infidelity, false allegations of fraud, sexual disease, money ritual, homosexuality/bisexuality, and mockery of the 7,000 persons empowerment project by Big Church Foundation, describing the humanitarian intervention as fake.
According to the suit, Tonto Dikeh’s interviews were aired, published and sponsored via broadcast channels, online media platforms, YouTube handles, notable print publications and even on her large 4million followers page on Instagram, with a view to impugn the character, standings in life and goodwill of her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill. The claim also requires the sum of 500million Naira as general damages from Tonto Dikeh (the defendant), for the libelous, slanderous and false allegations published against the claimants.
In one of her defamatory assertions Tonto noted the father of her ex-husband was a gardener, but sources have revealed that her claim was just mere fabrication as the father of her ex-husband was instead a high leveled personality, recognized and engaged with several international leaders, with gainful impacts in areas of humanitarian impacts and diplomatic connections.
The defendant’s action in appearance would be to propose and provide reliable evidence to sustain the accusations, insults, defamation, slander and allegations supported, published and promoted on several mass media networks and platforms, including television, YouTube channels, social media handles and the online media channels.
Tonto Dikeh has also been compelled by the suit filed against her to publish or cause to be published an apology to her ex-husband, and a retraction of the publications on her Instagram pages, YouTube Channel, 3 major Nigerian newspapers and their online sites, as well as a file affidavit of compliance of same within 14 days of the delivery of judgement. Also an order of perpetual injunction may also be issued restraining the defendant, privies, agents etc from publishing or cause to be published any further defamatory words against the claimant. She would also have to refrain from any form of blackmail or extortion of her ex-husband in the name of upkeep and education for their son. However, she has continued to refuse the father access to the child, even when the Court had earlier granted him access to his son.
The claim also demanded a sum of 10million Naira as cost of the action of defendant.
